Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the upcoming US presidential election, according to a report by Reuters.
"I am pleased to announce that I have asked Tim Walz to be my running mate. He has worked for working families as a governor, a coach, a teacher, and an elder. We are fortunate to have him in our camp," Harris stated.
Upon accepting the role, Walz expressed his enthusiasm, writing, "It's an honor to join Kamala Harris' camp." He likened the experience to his first day of school, noting, "Harris is showing what politics can do. So let's get this done."
In his speech, Walz also criticized former US President Donald Trump, stating, “He mocks our various laws, incites discord and division, we did not get any guidance from him during the Corona crisis and he brought our economy to the ground. In short, he has created records that no other president has done before.”In response to Walz being chosen as Harris's running mate, former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump referred to them as a "radical left-wing pair." On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump posted, "People are witnessing the most radical left-wing duo in US history."
